Desigualdade de renda na agricultura: o efeito da posse da terra

This paper analyses the effects of agricultural income determinants, in particular of human capital and physical capital. One of its purposes is to evaluate the possible overestimation of the effect of education in income equations that do not include any measure of wealth. Besides all the variables usually considered in earnings equations adjusted to the primary sector, we have included the area of the agricultural enterprise (as a proxy for wealth). The results show the enormous effect of area on agricultural income. When this variable is included in the regression, we see a substantial decrease in the influence of education on income determination. Such decrease indicates an overestimation of the education’s effect in studies that do not include an appropriate measure of physical capital.agriculture, income, human capital, physical capital

The paper analyses the effects of rural income determinants, in particular of human capital and physical capital. Besides the earnings equation estimated for persons occupied in agriculture, the paper also analyzes earnings regressions for persons occupied in the industry and service sectors. Um bom fã de rock não é fascinado apenas por seus solos de guitarra e seus riffs poderosos, mas também por sua história, origens e influências. Bandas que se tornaram ‘lendas’ com letras que iam muito além do mote ‘sexo, drogas e rock n’ roll, com temas que abordam filosofia, mitologia e temas históricos, fazem cada canção se tornar um ‘universo’ a ser explorado, quando tentamos compreende-las. Um desses ‘universos’ é o ocultismo e suas questões esotéricas, tema explorado por diversas bandas clássicas, e para algumas pessoas, um prato cheio para associações à demônios, seitas e o que mais a imaginação puder permitir. Como diria o filosofo e teólogo Blaise Pascal, “O homem está sempre disposto a negar tudo aquilo que não compreende”, a frase se encaixa perfeitamente quando analisamos diversas canções de rock. A curiosidade é uma característica inata do ser humano, o desejo do ser humano de explorar o universo para aumentar o conhecimento e, dessa forma, desvendar o desconhecido. E é a partir dessa característica ‘humana’ e a busca insaciável de conhecimento que tentamos compreender o universo e seus mistérios e a nós mesmos. E a partir das cartas de tarô podemos identificar, além dessa, diversas características do ser humano através de arquétipos, os personagens, virtudes e situações descritas nas cartas sinalizam pontos importantes da trajetória humana o que o torna uma grande ferramenta de aprendizado e autoconhecimento

ANÁLISE DE UMA CONSTRUÇÃO EM ALVENARIA ESTRUTURAL POR UMA CONSTRUTORA DE PEQUENO PORTE DA CIDADE DE JOÃO PESSOA

This paper tries to analyze what is a structural masonry construction for books, and reports a real construction from its conception as a project finalized until its final stage by a small construction company of the city of João Pessoa, which is the case of many construction companies in Brazil. Focused on the descriptive part of the processes used by the company and the various problems encountered in the field, it presents the solutions adopted, shows how most of the problems are due to errors, change and lack of projects and absence of experienced professional in the team, which reflects immediately on the efficiency, construction time and profit of the work.Este trabalho trata de analisar o que é uma construção em alvenaria estrutural para os livros, os conceitos e relata uma construção real desde a sua concepção finalizada enquanto projeto até a sua etapa final por uma construtora de pequeno porte da cidade de João Pessoa, o que é o caso de muitas construtoras no Brasil. Focado na parte descritiva dos processos utilizados pela empresa e nos diversos problemas encontrados no campo, apresenta as soluções adotadas, mostra como a maioria dos problemas enfrentados são devido a erros, mudança e falta de projetos e ausência de profissional experiente na equipe, o que reflete imediatamente na eficiência, no prazo de construção e no lucro da obra

O MINISTÉRIO PÚBLICO EM AUDIÊNCIA DE CUSTÓDIA: O IMPERATIVO CONSTITUCIONAL DE SEU COMPARECIMENTO EM JUÍZO

This article focuses in the analysis, in national scope, of facultative assigned to the presenceof the Brazilian’s District Attorney’s Office in a custody hearing. Therefore, the criticalexamination as part of enumeration of ministerial functions enshrined in the constitutionaltext which support the obligatoriness of its presence in court, continuing with the analogybetween administrative acts who regulated the custody hearing in the context of thehomelands Courts of Justice. The custody hearing is an appropriate pre-procedural means ofpreventing torture and illegitimate segregation, thus serving as a judicial control of theprovisional prisons. In this way, regardful to the tasks entrusted to it by the constituentlegislator, the appearance of Public Ministry in a custody hearing is nothing more than a longmanus of its constitutional attributions.Este artigo na análise, em âmbito nacional, da facultatividade atribuída à presença na audiência de custódia. Para tanto, o exame crítico parte da enumeração das funções ministeriais consagradas no texto constitucional que alicerçam a obrigatoriedade de o órgão comparecer em juízo, prosseguindo-se com o cotejo entre os atos administrativos que regulamentaram a audiência de custódia no âmbito dos Tribunais de Justiça pátrios. A audiência de custódia constitui-se em via pré-processual idônea de prevenção à tortura e à segregação ilegítima, sevindo, pois, de controle judicial das prisões provisórias. Destarte, atento às missões que lhe foram confiadas pelo legislador constituinte, a comparência do Ministério Público em audiência de custódia nada mais é senão a long manus de suas atribuições constitucionais

A global hybrid derivative-free method for high-dimensional systems of nonlinear equations

A hybrid approach is taken, based on a derivative-free iterative method, organized in two phases. The first phase is defined by derivative-free versions of a fixed-point method that employs spectral parameters to define the steplength along the residual direction. The second phase consists on a matrix-free inexact Newton method that employs the Generalized Minimal Residual algorithm to solve the linear system that computes the search direction. This second phase will only take place if the first one fails to find a better point after a predefined number of reductions in the step size. In all stages, the criterion to accept a new point considers a nonmonotone decrease condition upon a merit function. Convergence results are established and the numerical performance is assessed through experiments in a set of problems collected from the literature. Both the theoretical and the experimental analysis support the feasibility of the proposed hybrid strategy.authorsversionpublishe

Understanding the Local Drivers of Beta-Diversity Patterns Under Climate Change: The Case of Seaweed Communities in Galicia, North West of the Iberian Peninsula

[Abstract] Aim: To understand spatial-temporal changes (beta-diversity) in coastal communities and their drivers in the context of climate change. Coastal ecosystems are extremely exposed and dynamic, where changes in seaweed assemblages have been associated with changing water temperatures. However, at local scale, the effects of changes in the upwelling events and related stressors seek further exploration. Location: Galicia rías, North West of the Iberian Peninsula. Methods: Using data collected in 42 sampling localities in Galicia rias and over two time periods (1998 and 2014), we analysed changes in the seaweed community's composition through time and space. We calculated the temporal beta-diversity index and spatial beta-diversity as the pairwise composition differences between sampling localities. We use generalized dissimilarity models, to identify local environmental drivers of spatial and temporal beta-diversity. Results: We found a significant change in seaweed communities of Galicia rias, between 1998 and 2014 (temporal beta-diversity). They were mostly related to species loss rather than to species replacement. The dissimilarity among localities (spatial beta-diversity) was significantly higher in 2014 than in 1998. Nitrate concentration was consistently predicted as the main driver of both temporal and spatial beta-diversity patterns. Main conclusions: Unlike other studies in marine ecosystems, our results suggest that observed changes in the structure of perennial seaweed assemblages in Galicia Rias might lead to a local biotic heterogenization, indirectly linked to climate change through changes in nutrients availability and the upwelling intensity. Changes in Galicia seaweed communities call scientific attention to the importance of local stressors in climate change studies.Portugal. As viagens de Gulliver: uma comparação entre a obra literária e a adptação fílmica

Without abstract in EnglishMuito antes de surgir o romance moderno, no séc. XVIII, a “literatura de viagens e naufrágios”, como didaticamente é conceituada por teóricos, se fez marcante e universal não apenas pela sua inventividade narrativa, mas principalmente por se mostrar conectada ao mundo real e ao mesmo tempo revelando uma criticidade forte, tanto da sociedade quanto do próprio homem oitocentista, evidenciando, em ambos, a cobiça, a insaciedade pelas conquistas, suas frivolidades e toda espécie de corrupção. Com essa mesma carga de reflexão, acerca da natureza humana, a obra As Viagens de Gulliver, de autoria de Jonathan Swift, tornou-se célebre. Este trabalho procura investigar a partir das afirmações de estudiosos no campo da Literatura Infantil e Juvenil, de que as constantes adaptações sofridas pela obra de Swift apagaram por completo a sua essência critica. Dessa forma, o presente trabalho visa analisar a partir da comparação, assim como evidenciar se durante o processo de adaptação da obra literária para o cinema, os elementos temáticos discursivos da crítica política existentes na obra fonte ainda podem ser evidenciados em sua versão fílmica e de que forma os mesmos são organizados e direcionados. Para tanto, foram usados como corpus a novela literária As viagens de Gulliver, de Jonathan Swift, edição de 1971, traduzida por Octávio Mendes Cajado e a sua adaptação fílmica, de 1960, Os três mundos de Gulliver, dirigida por Jack Sher e também roteirizada em parceria com Arthur Ross. Para a realização desse trabalho foram utilizados os seguintes autores Hutcheon (2013), Coco (2000), Brandão (2000), Coelho (1991), Azerêdo (2012), Silva et al (2012), entre outros
